Vibes From Dusk to Dawn

Vibes from Dusk to Dawn:
Flavors of 1960s Night Club Jazz
Godfrey Hirsch was a vibist.
A cool title for a musician, right?!
He played a unique xylophone-type instrument of tuned metal bars, struck with two or four soft mallets: the vibraphone.
This percussion instrument was widely used on the jazz scene; often with the Tiki Lounge Sound
(an exotic, faux-Polynesian, instrumental genre, made famous by Arthur Lyman).
Few could say they traveled in their early musical career with such a notable great as Louis Prima
(of Pennies from Heaven fame).
Yet once Godfrey moved on from Prima’s band,
he joined a solid New Orleans French Quarter
jazz group, Pete Fountain’s Band.
Whatever your mood, Happiness Is will lift you up.
And keep you company in perfect timing.
