Thanks for the Musical Memories
Light Music is essentially a form of fine art.
This genre can take us to another place and time.
Its easy-listening style transports us to a mood, scene or memory.
I want to share with you why Light Music
is a big deal to me.
In one instance, a song may take me back to a pre-wartime New York City or Chicago shopping scene from a film I watched in 1974 on a Saturday afternoon in my grandparents’ living room.
I’m lifted into a daydream, visiting stores of the era, extravagant holiday displays at every turn.
And taking a taxi to the nearest Automat in time for lunch, complete with pie and coffee.
Another tune could transport me off on a sailboat excursion I saw on a Sunday morning television rerun in 1968. I’m immediately longing for a weekend getaway on a restored 1950s boat, enjoying sun and wind on my face, with no cares or worries.
And a third composition may catapult me into a Shirley Temple movie rerun I caught during my college days. The kitchen scene is set with a pot roast coming out of the oven. I’m filled with a giddy feeling of future children scurrying around the table. And a sense of comfort flooding my heart.
I challenge you to see for yourself how quickly you’re taken to a different place and time!
